Coach Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Coach (“App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Coach mobile application. By using Coach, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Coach allows you to track gym sessions and view your history. The App stores the following categories of data locally on your device using device storage (AsyncStorage):
- Workout tracking data: Your selected sessions-per-week target, logged sessions (dates), and weekly history.
- Coach state: App-generated score/mood state derived from your logging patterns (used only to drive in-app behavior).
- App preferences: Onboarding status, notification preferences, and other in-app settings.
Subscription and purchase data (if you subscribe): If you purchase a subscription, the App may process purchase-related information to verify subscription status and unlock paid features. This may include app store transaction/receipt information and app-scoped identifiers. Purchases are handled by the app store (for example, Apple) and subscription status may be verified via a third-party subscription management provider (RevenueCat). We do not collect your workout logs, targets, or Coach state for subscription verification.
No account registration is required, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or other contact details unless you choose to contact us directly.
2. How We Use Your Information
All workout, state, and preference information is stored and processed locally on your device. We use it only to:
- Display your logged sessions and weekly history.
- Evaluate consistency based on your selected weekly target.
- Drive Coach’s in-app reactions (for example, mood-based messages).
- Schedule local reminders on your device (if you enable notifications).
- Remember that you have completed onboarding and your settings.
Subscriptions (if offered): If you purchase a subscription, we use purchase/receipt and entitlement status information to: (a) verify your subscription, (b) enable or disable paid features, (c) restore purchases, and (d) help prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not transmit or process your workout logs on external servers. However, we may send limited anonymous usage analytics events (such as event names indicating which features are used) to a third-party service to help improve the App; these events do not include your logged session dates, targets, or any text you enter.
3. Data Storage and Retention
- Your workout logs, Coach state, and preferences are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
- Data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, or clear the App’s data.
- You can reset your data by using system settings to delete the App’s storage or by reinstalling the App.
- Anonymous usage analytics events we send to our third-party provider may be stored for a limited time to help us understand usage and maintain the App; these events do not include your workout logs or targets.
- Subscription-related records maintained by the app store (and by subscription service providers used for verification) may be retained according to their policies and legal obligations.
4. Data Sharing and Transfers
We do not sell your personal information. We do not transfer your workout logs or Coach state to third parties. Coach operates without remote servers for your workout data, so this information never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it yourself.
Subscription verification: If you subscribe, we may share limited purchase/receipt and entitlement-related information with third parties strictly to provide subscription functionality: the app store provider (for example, Apple) and our subscription management provider (RevenueCat). This information is used to verify purchases, manage entitlements, restore purchases, and help prevent fraud. We do not share your workout logs, targets, or Coach state with these providers.
Analytics: We may use a third-party service to process anonymous usage analytics events on our behalf; these events do not include your workout logs, targets, or any text you enter.
5. Analytics and Tracking
Coach may use a lightweight analytics implementation that records anonymous usage events (for example, event names indicating which features are used). We do not use advertising SDKs or third-party cookies, and we do not track your activity across other sites or apps.
6. Notifications
If you enable notifications, Coach schedules reminders locally on your device. Notification scheduling uses your local device time. We do not send push notifications from our own servers.
7. Third-Party Services
Coach may use third-party services to provide certain functionality. These third parties process information according to their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing those policies.
- App Store / In-App Purchases: Purchases are processed by the app store provider (for example, Apple). The app store may process purchase and transaction information.
- RevenueCat (Subscription Management): If you subscribe, we use RevenueCat to help verify subscription status and manage entitlements (including restoring purchases). RevenueCat may process transaction/receipt information, app-scoped identifiers, and device/network information (such as IP address) for fraud prevention and entitlement management. We do not send your workout logs, targets, or Coach state to RevenueCat.
- Analytics Provider (if enabled): We may send anonymous usage events (such as event names indicating which features are used) to help improve the App.
- Open-source libraries: The App may include open-source libraries (for example, Flutter and supporting packages). These components run locally.
8. Security
We rely on the built-in security of your device and the operating system’s storage mechanisms. To protect your data:
- Set up a device passcode or biometric authentication.
- Keep your operating system updated.
- Only download Coach from official app stores.
No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure; please use caution when entering sensitive information.
9. Your Rights
Because we do not collect or store your workout data on our servers, data rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations (access, correction, deletion, export) for that locally-stored data are handled by you directly on your device. To exercise these rights:
- Modify or delete information within the App (where supported).
- Delete the App or clear its storage from your device settings to remove all stored data.
- Reinstall the App if you want to start over with no data.
For purchase and subscription records, the app store provider (for example, Apple) controls those records in your store account, subject to their policies.
If you contact us directly (e.g., by email), we will only use your contact information to respond to your inquiry and will delete it once the request is resolved, unless you request otherwise or we are legally required to retain it.
10. Children’s Privacy
Coach is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us so we can address it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. If changes materially affect how we handle your data, we will notify you within the App or through other appropriate means.
Continued use of Coach after an update means you accept the revised policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the App.
